10 Energy and Sustainability Points are Standard on Every Home We Build

ss-1Radiant Barrier Roof Sheathing

Reflective insulation provides greater comfort in your home while substantially reducing energy costs and reducing the investment dollars needed for heating and cooling equipment. Reflective insulation utilizing lightweight metalized film has virtually endless applications for keeping heat out or in.

ss-2High performance Low E Energy Star windows

Advanced technologies, like protective coatings and improved frames, help keep heat in during the winter and out during the summer. They also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furnishings.

ss-3Air Infiltration System

You want your home to be comfortable no matter what room you are in or what the weather is outside. Broadstreet has developed a comprehensive air infiltration system. By using less energy for heating, cooling and water heating, our homes can deliver 20%-30% savings on annual utility bills.

ss-4Complete Water Management System

Water management practices and materials that help to protect your home from water damage and reduce the risk of indoor air quality problems. Our process starts right from the beginning of construction with the proper grading and moisture barrier to protect the foundation from ground water. All roof systems are professionally designed to allow the water to drain to the correct location and be directed away from the home.

ss-5CFL Lighting

CFL bulbs are used in all of our homes. Cost savings on average use up to 75% less energy than a traditional incandescent light bulb. These bulbs use only 13-15 watts and replace a 60 watt incandescent bulb and save $40 in electricity costs over the bulb lifetime.

ss-6Programmable Digital Thermostats

Designed the way you live your lifestyle. Use pre-programmed settings to make your home more comfortable and to help reduce your heating and cooling costs by up to 30%.

ss-7Gas Tankless Hot Water Heating

Installation of on demand water heaters is standard in every one of our homes. Tankless water heaters are 25%-35% more energy efficient than your conventional hot water tank.

ss-8High Performance Heating and Cooling System

Professionally designed engineered system with minimum 16 SEER HVAC with sealed ducts lines and damper controlled air flow to allow your home to be more energy efficient. In return allowing your system to use less energy, operate at reduced noise levels and improves the overall comfort of your home.

ss-9Water Saver Plumbing Fixtures

Installation of water efficient fixtures provide better performance than conventional fixtures without sacrificing performance, while saving as much as 50% in water and heating costs.

ss-10Advanced Framing System

Advanced framing improves energy efficiency by replacing lumber with insulation material. The whole wall R value is improved by reducing thermal bridging through the framing and maximizing the wall area that is insulated. In addition construction cost savings result from the generation of less waste that needs to be disposed of which also helps the environment.

Broadstreet is Committed to Intelligent Home Design

We use the nationally recognized Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index to guide our energy and sustainability decisions. HERS is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured as well as inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.

Below is an average measurement report for the homes we build.

We have worked hard and are extremely proud of our average index of 53 which is 47 points lower (the lower the number the better) the standard home.

While this is just a snapshot in time, we are always striving to improve this number.
